Brief History of TMB

In 1986, God placed a burden on the hearts of two pastors, James T. Moon and Leroy Smith, to start a building program that would support Texas Missionary Baptist churches. After much prayer and counsel, Texas Mission Builders (TMB) was established under the sponsorship of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Mt. Enterprise, and has since saved countless churches 30-50% in building costs.

TMB quickly grew, powered by volunteers and financial support from churches across Texas. What began with a donated school bus and personal tools has evolved into a well-equipped organization with full-time and part-time workers. Over the years, TMB has completed 168 projects, saving millions and providing opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and hands-on mission work.

In 1994, sponsorship transferred to East Side Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville. Under new leadership, TMB continued to expand, including the addition of metal building construction under Supervisor Mike Pearson in 2009. Today, TMB stands as a testament to God’s provision, supported by dedicated coordinators, workers, and prayer warriors across the state.

God has used TMB to build not just structures, but a stronger community of believers, united in service to His kingdom. The mission continues, as we trust God to supply our needs and lead us forward.
